Come the magnificant setting of Westlake. My office is in "The Landing" office building and has a breath taking corner office view of the lake and harbor. It's an incredible place to relax, heal and even get a great meal.
I am typically in the office Monday through Friday.

Thoughts about therapy from Dr. Brian Satt, Clinical Psychologist: DrSatt@netzero.com (818) 991-7243
Many people are fond of saying, "People never change". It is true that change takes intention and a desire to change and a seeking of the truth.
Many people need a guide to be able to change, because, what they are trying to change is so comfortable for them -- in a painful kind of way.
I believe that we are all here to change, to evolve during our lifetime towards becoming a better person. And consequently, to move our societies, our cultures, forward towards a future that is more continually harmonious. From my perspective, harmony comes from peace comes from love comes from spirit.
The spirit is a part of ourselves that has the potentiality to mature, from the time we are born. Our spirit is the part of us that is connected, loving, giving, unselfish, peaceful. Sometimes we need guidance in allowing our spirit to more and more fully unfold. Unfold to the place where it resides within us consciously and most regularly.
The evolution of our spirit does not necessarily have anything to do with religion.
You may never hear me talk about spirit in therapy, unless you wish. Why?
To most fully animate the spirit one must have most of one’s common humanly problems at a place where they do not occupy or thrust themselves into our minds or our feelings, our behavior or our bodies.
Therapy is the art of guiding a person through the maze of resolving problems, issues and concerns which preoccupy us because of our previous negative life experiences. We need never talk of spirit if we are resolving problems.
Yes, people can resolve problems created from painful life experiences and people can move towards the happiness of the blossomed spirit. Yes, people can change. And I can help.
I am pleased to let you know that I practice a specific method of therapy which has the power to focus your thoughts, your visual mind, your feelings and your body, (all at the same time), on previous life experiences that continue the bring up negative feelings, thoughts or behaviors. And to then eliminate the painful feelings, so they no longer make you feel bad or drive troublesome behavior. Most simply said, this highly focused approach of resolving painful feelings brings about rapid change and lasting improvements.
If you want to change, ask me how. Dr. Brian Satt, (818) 991-7243.

There are dramatic differences in psychotherapy, just as there are in medicine. When my wife developed thyroid cancer and her thyroid had to be removed, we interviewed a number of doctors. The general surgeon, who came highly recommended, proposed making a cut in her neck, which would essentially go from ear to ear. Several specialists later, we found a thyroid cancer specialist and discovered that the incision only needed to be 1-½ inches, made in one of the existing creases of her neck, so it would virtually be invisible. With regard to psychotherapy you can be involved in the most common forms of “counseling”, designed to help you control your symptoms. Or you can seek a highly transformative form of therapy designed to be healing and curative.
Personally I have a problem with a “symptom control approach” when highly effective therapy, leading to rapid and profound change is available. After 25 years of being a therapist, I have used a number of approaches and continue to do so. The type of therapy I do with couples is very different than what I do with families. There are also different approaches for different individuals, however, for most types of depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress, anger issues, problems with guilt/shame, phobias, and a number of other problems, I have found one type of therapy in particular to have astounding results. But you don’t have to believe me, find out why the following pediatricians, Ob/Gyn’s, internists and family doctors in the Conejo Valley have my referral information posted on walls throughout their offices – Peter Antol, M.D., Mark Bruckner, M.D., Michael Feinman, M.D., Cheryl Harris-Geer, M.D., Meredith Glickman, M.D., Beverly Kornder, M.D., Kerrie McMurrary, M.D., Donna Pachoric, M.D., Russ Spadaro, M.D., Nathalie Rubin, M.D., Ken Saul, M.D., Anita Shrinavasa, M.D., Betsy Weisz, M.D. I was also contracted for many years with the Las Virgenes and Simi Valley school districts to deal with their most difficult teens.
If you are seeking therapy for the first time or are among the many who have not experienced the results they have desired from past therapy, I would like to offer you a free, 1/2 hour consultation to discuss your needs and help you determine what type of therapy would be most productive to you. This will be a no pressure, no sell, no obligation consultation, helping to define what will be best for your personal growth. Please feel free to come and discuss any psychological concern you have. Please call (818) 991-72343, extension 55 to book a free consultation.
If you want a caring, interactive therapist, who appreciates and works with the profound interaction between mind, body, feelings and spirit, I will look forward to being of service to you, in whatever ways I can.
