General Comments:
In our contemporary society it is easy to be content and even glad for medications that soothe symptoms, but healing comes from working through our underlying conflicts in a textured human relationships in which we can feel what we truly feel and become who we truly are. I believe symptoms, whether depression, anxiety, anger, hurt, a sense of meaninglessness, emptiness, or addictions are signs. They are distressing signs that it is time to become more than both whom we've grown accostomed to being and how we've grown accustomed to being with other people.
Whether in-person, by telephone or videoconference, psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapy are unique forms of psychotherapy. By working together we will aim to understand the meaning of the your emotional reactions, thoughts, memories, etc., so as to alleviate your distress and expand your capacity for work, love, and creativity.
Therapy that aims at lasting change and personal growth involves a considerable investment of time and money. I encourage you to be careful about the therapist you select. I have been trained and supervised in psychanalytic psychotherapy for five years. Other training specializations include addictions, GLBT, and psychological assessment.
