There are certain skills that I bring that increase the effectiveness of therapy. These include empathy and respect for those with whom I work, a developing understanding of what the other is struggling with and working through, and a sense of humor to help bring perspective and warmth.
The process of therapy is intimate and emotional. Having a good fit with your therapist is essential. One of the best ways to know if you have a good fit, is to sit with the therapist in a session and find out for yourself if you feel understood and helped.
