Personal Comments:
I believe therapy has the ability to heal individuals' distress and bring relief from difficulties such as depression, anxiety, the pain of trauma or loss, and issues that "get in the way" of one's search for relationship satisfaction or career achievement. I have had extensive clinical experience working with a wide range of adult patients in a variety of settings, including two university counseling centers, a hospital (both outpatient and inpatient), and a community mental health clinic on the upper east side of Manhattan. My clinical experience with children and adolescents has included patients ranging in age from four –to –seventeen who have presented with a variety of difficulties.

General Comments:
Therapy is a process of discovery and change, which, although often challenging, is always an endeavor worth taking. My clinical training is predominantly psychodynamic, which means I believe that past happenings and experiences affect present and future experiences. More specifically, I believe our formative relationships from our childhoods help establish who we are and how we connect and relate with others. For this reason, I tend to think the therapeutic relationship (that between my patients and me) plays an integral role in the potential for discovery and change during one’s personal therapeutic journey. Therefore, my work emphasizes the importance of empathy and building a strong rapport in order to create a trusting working alliance and a space where my patients feel safe.
Particular areas of specialty and experience in my work with adults have included:
Trauma (i.e., survivors of childhood physical and sexual abuse, and rape)
Eating Disorders
Infertility (i.e., difficulty becoming pregnant, miscarriage, recurrent miscarriage)
Terminal Diseases (i.e., Cancer and AIDS)
Career Counseling
Particular areas of specialty and experience in my work with children have included:
Behavior Modification
Anxiety Issues
Separation/Divorce of Parents
Introduction of a New Sibling into the Family.
My work with children always involves the child’s parents and sometimes, if appropriate and relevant, siblings. The involvement of parents in a child’s therapy is to not only ensure continuity and consistency both behaviorally as well as emotionally, but to reinforce the importance of parental support for the child.
