General Comments:
I bring an unusually fresh level of passion to this field, in that psychology is a relatively new calling for me; for the first 20 years of my working life I was in the business world. Now that I'm in my 50s, I'm delighted to be able to apply what I've learned in life experiences, as well as in my intensive studies, to assisting my clients in achieving their goals.
I prefer to work in a collaborative, goal-oriented manner: we will set objectives at the beginning of our work together, and I will periodically "check in" to gauge your satisfaction with both our progress and our process of working together.
I believe that the best answers to people's problems lie within them, and I see my value to you in: 1)facilitating conversations that illuminate those answers; 2)providing a relatively objective viewpoint; 3) suggesting consideration of certain specific courses of action, developed for you with a combination of insight and extensive life experience and clinical work. I've studied extensively how to be a facilitator of conversations that enable my clients to tap into their own valuable life experience and wisdom.
I know that the decision to begin therapy, and the process of choosing a therapist, are difficult. I encourage you to phone or e-mail me to discuss any questions or concerns about therapy in general, or my particular approach to it. I'll be happy to spend whatever time is necessary to give you the information you need.
Finally, please be sure to check carefully any insurance coverage you may have. While I am happy to provide you with any and all documentation needed for reimbursement, please note that I am not a member of any managed care panels, both because of the risks to confidentiality posed by having several outsiders involved in your care (which is inherent in the managed care system), and because I want my client's well-being to be the sole determinant of our work together, unclouded by corporate profit considerations.
