Personal Comments:
Are you struggling with worries and sadness that feel out of control? It can be so painful and frustrating to feel stuck in a dark emotional place or feel like you can't break free from the loop of anxious thoughts playing over and over in your head. It is possible to not feel so trapped by your feelings and/or circumstances.
I help people clarify what it is that is preventing them from living the life they desire, and guide them in identifying (and taking) the steps necessary for change. I use approaches with proven effectiveness and tailor our work to you as an individual. Re-connecting you with your strengths and inner wisdom is an important part of my treatment style.
My approach to treatment is eclectic. I use psychodynamic therapy to understand people's relationship patterns resulting from life experiences. I also use a cognitive-behavioral approach when people's difficulties stem from unproductive ways of thinking, and help them understand the connection between thoughts, behavior, and emotion so that they can develop productive ways of thinking and behaving and decrease negative emotions like anxiety and depression.
I have a strong background and interest in multicultural psychology. I explore how your cultural identity (your ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc.) influences your experience of the problem that brings you to therapy.
