General Comments:
Sharon Scott has been making a difference in peoples' lives for 30 years through her private counseling services, workshops, and nine award-winning books. She offers individual, family, children, teen, and couples counseling on a wide array of life issues including low self-esteem, peer pressure, sibling rivalry, anger management, couples communication, situational depression, parenting, anxiety, youth not following home and school rules, grief, career changes, personal growth, stress, and more. In her private practice she goes beyond 'just talking' with clients about their problems to addressing their needs with skills training. This insures that clients move as quickly as possible to meet their goals! Sharon has an extemely high rate of success in helping clients attain most (or all) of their stated goals.
Sharon has an impressive background: 25 years in private practice plus previous experience as Director of the Dallas Police Department's First Offender Program and several years in social work. She has counseled thousands of people and provided skills training to over one million people through her workshops in 42 U.S. states and in Australia, Switzerland, Turkey, Spain, Malaysia, South Africa, Canada, the Philippines, and Micronesia. She is the 2001 recipient of the 'Molly Gerold Human Rights Award' given by the 6,000 member Texas Counseling Association for her worldwide volunteer efforts in drug prevention. She is past President of Northern Metro Counseling Association and a Clinical Member of American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
Sharon is also the author of nine award-winning books including the teen bestseller "How to Say No and Keep Your Friends, 2nd Ed." and the parent/educator guide "Peer Pressure Reversal, An Adult Guide to Developing a Responsible Child, 2nd Ed." She is most known for helping children and teens resist all kinds of negative peer pressure. She is also the author of a delightful series of books for elementary-age children that she 'co-authored' with her savvy Cocker Spaniel, Nicholas. Each of these books teaches a valuable living skill: "Too Smart for Trouble," "Life's Not Always Fair: A Child's Guide to Managing Emotions," "Not Better... Not Worse... Just Different," "Nicholas' Values: A Child's Guide to Building Character," and "Too Cool for Drugs." Her books are available through her publisher, HRD Press, 1-800-822-2801 or online at www.hrdpress/sharonscott.com. Also through www.amazon.com
