When Will My Medication Start to Work?
The time it takes to experience the beneficial effects of Restoril (temazepam) depends on the individual and their dosage.
Talk to your prescribing doctor or therapist if you need to stop taking this medication. Do not stop taking Restoril (temazepam) suddenly if you have been taking it for several weeks, since this may cause unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.
Are There Any Drug Interactions?
Before taking Restoril (temazepam), tell your doctor or therapist if you are taking any of the following drugs:
- antihistamines
- narcotics
- other sedatives
- phenothiazines
- antidepressants
Dangerous sedation, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur if Restoril (temazepam) is taken with any of the medications listed above.
Seizure medications may not be as effective when you are taking Restoril (temazepam).
Blood pressure medications may be more effective and may result in very low blood pressure. Be alert for signs of low blood pressure (weakness, dizziness, fatigue) and talk to your doctor or therapist about your medication dosage.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Issues
Restoril (temazepam) is in the FDA pregnancy category X, which means that taking this medication will cause birth defects in an unborn baby. Do not take Restoril (temazepam) if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy.
It is not known whether Restoril (temazepam) passes into breast milk. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor or therapist if you are breast-feeding.
Other Important Information and Precautions
Do not take Restoril (temazepam) if you have narrow-angle glaucoma since this medication may worsen your condition.
Before taking Restoril (temazepam), tell your doctor if you:

- are depressed or have suicidal thoughts
