Have More Satisfying Relationships With Yourself and Others

Relationships seem to have become so difficult! Do you find yourself greeting the new day with joy and excitement, or with dread and discouragement? This may due to the quality of relationships that you have with yourself or others in your life such as a spouse, significant other, family members, friends or co-workers. Improving relationships will improve your quality of life! At one time or another we have allowed our dissatisfaction with ourselves or others to make or break our day.
Below are 5 guidelines to begin to interact differently and more effectively with others:
1. Communication: Use your words to express needs, wants and expectations to avoid disappointments.
2. Limitations: Set boundaries about which behaviors that you will and will not tolerate.
3. Conflict Resolution: Less reactive and more responsive, effectively express dissatisfaction, forgiveness (allowing for mistakes in all relationships!).
4. Appreciation: Show gratitude more often rather than expressing criticism and discontent, accepting the things we cannot change.
5. Relaxation and meditation: Choose your battles wisely, learn to let things go, be balanced in mind, body and spirit.

There are ways to resolve every situation as well as tolerate and respect the differences in other people that upset us.
Instead of saying "I値l be happy when my spouse changes" or "I値l be happy when I get a new job" or "I値l be happy when...", take charge and say "I値l be happy now" despite my circumstances and situations! Make a commitment to change today. Learn the skills and techniques to have healthy, satisfying relationships with yourself and others.
