I Am Overcoming Depression with the Help of a Therapist

All my life, I grew up in a small town, but I moved away to New Orleans to go to college, which was a big transition for me. When I got to ”the city” as I called it, I really had a hard time adjusting. Everything seemed so much bigger and fast-paced. I ended up staying inside quite a bit. I also felt really alone because I left all my friends and my girlfriend behind back home.

I was always depressed and I seemed to always focus on why being in the city was such a mistake. This lasted for a few months until I finally decided to see a therapist. The therapist helped me understand why I was feeling the way I was and helped me learn new ways of seeing things which have really helped in overcoming the feelings of depression I had.

It’s been a year now and I definitely feel better than I did a year ago. I still have things that I need to work on, but going to therapy has definitely been worth it.
